Description
Complete kit of Griduino parts, electronic components, hardware, connectors, custom milled enclosure, desktop display stand, and more. This is everything you need.
What is it?
Griduino’s reason for existence is to be a driver’s aid for navigating grid squares. This makes it easy to know where you are and how far to nearby grids. Audible announcements alert you at a grid boundary so you can keep your eyes on the road.
When you reach a destination, you can use Griduino as a big bright easy-to-read GMT station clock. When you get home, it’s a station clock, a 3-day graphing barometer, a special-event countdown clock, and other handy functions.
Why did you make it?
I drive solo on grid expeditions around the Pacific Northwest and beyond. I like to activate grid squares on 6 meters along the way. For example, about every other year I’ll drive from Seattle, Washington to Elizabeth City, North Carolina and back, some 3500 miles each way.
It can be difficult to keep track of your grid and the names of nearby grids. Estimating distances can be difficult from traditional maps and navigators because the map scale varies widely from one map page to the next.
I want to know when I exit one grid square and enter another. I want a talking GPS that announces when I cross the line into a new grid. Better yet, I want to know “how far to the next grid line in my current direction of travel?”
Knowing grid distances helps me budget my time. I want to get a sense of how long until I’m in the next grid, so I can judge whether to stop and make contacts beforehand in this grid. Likewise, I’d like to know if a “new grid” opportunity is only a short distance away.
What makes it special?
There is no other device anywhere to display this detailed information about grid squares.
The assembly instructions are extremely clear with abundant photographs.

You can also add your own features and develop new software using the standard Arduino Workbench. It is programmed like any other Feather M4 Express board.
